Davy Jones was an English singer, actor, and musician, best known as a member of the iconic pop group "The Monkees". Born in Manchester, England, Jones began his career as a child actor, appearing on British television and in stage productions, including a celebrated role in the musical "Oliver!" on Broadway.
In 1965, he shot to fame as the charismatic lead vocalist of "The Monkees", a band formed for the hit television series of the same name. The group produced chart-topping hits such as "Daydream Believer" and "I’m a Believer".
Davy Jones co-presented one edition of Top of the Pops in June 1968.
