Johnnie Walker is a DJ and broadcaster, best known for his influential career in radio and his passion for music that spans decades. Born in Birmingham, England, Walker began his radio career in the 1960s, gaining fame as a pirate radio DJ on Radio Caroline, where his charismatic style and eclectic music selection attracted a loyal following.

He joined BBC Radio 1 in 1969 and later became a household name for hosting shows that championed new and classic tracks across genres, showcasing his deep knowledge and love for music. Walker's career highlights include hosting the iconic "Drivetime" show on BBC Radio 2 from 1999 to 2006, and fronting the popular "Sounds of the Seventies" radio program.

Johnnie only presented one edition on Top of the Pops, in January 1974. From 1994 to 1997 Walker also presented TOTP2.

Walker's contributions to the music industry earned him several accolades, including induction into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame. Johnnie's radio career spanned over 58 years, with poor health forcing him to retire in October 2024. Johnnie passed away on 31st December 2024, aged 79.
