Andy Peebles

Andy Peebles is a British broadcaster, journalist, and radio presenter, best known for his long career in radio and television. He was born in 1948.

Peebles developed a passion for music at a young age and would often listen to the radio for hours on end, soaking up the sounds of rock and roll, blues, and jazz. He began his career in radio in the early 1970s, working as a disc jockey for local stations in London and eventually moving on to larger networks such as Radio Luxembourg and Capital Radio.

In 1978, Peebles joined the BBC, where he became a presenter for the popular music program "The Old Grey Whistle Test." Over the next decade, he interviewed some of the biggest names in music, including Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, and David Bowie.

In 1984, Peebles was chosen to interview Michael Jackson for a special BBC television program, "Michael Jackson: The Legend Continues." The interview was a huge success and helped to cement Peebles' reputation as one of the most respected interviewers in the music industry.

Peebles continued to work for the BBC throughout the 1980s and 1990s, hosting a number of different radio and television programs. He was also a regular presenter on "Top of the Pops" in the early 1980s and "The Radio 1 Roadshow."

In addition to his work in broadcasting, Peebles has also written several books on music, including "David Bowie: We Could Be Heroes" and "The Old Grey Whistle Test Quiz Book."
