Emperor Rosko presenting TOTP

Emperor Rosko

Emperor Rosko is a radio presenter who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with his energetic and charismatic style of broadcasting. He was born Michael Joseph Pasternak in California in 1942 and began his career in radio in the United States before moving to Europe in the mid-1960s.

Rosko joined Radio Caroline, a pirate radio station operating off the coast of England, where he became known for his lively presenting style and his ability to connect with listeners. He later joined BBC Radio 1, where he continued to entertain audiences with his unique approach to broadcasting.

Despite his success, Rosko has faced some controversy over the years, including a brief suspension from BBC Radio 1 in the 1970s for playing a track that was considered too controversial for the airwaves.

Emperor Rosko guest presented a couple of Top of the Pops episodes from 1967 to 1975.
