Simon Mayo
Simon Mayo is a British radio presenter who is best known for his work on BBC Radio 1. He started his career as a hospital radio DJ and then went on to work for various commercial radio stations before joining the BBC in 1986. Mayo presented a number of popular programs on Radio 1, including the weekday afternoon show and the Radio 1 breakfast show.
In 2018, Mayo announced that he was leaving BBC Radio 2, where he had been hosting the weekday mid-morning show, to join a new national classical music station, Scala Radio. In 2021 Mayo joined Greatest Hits Radio.
Mayo regularly presented Top of the Pops from 1986 to 1991. He also returned to present TOTP in 1994 after Radio 1 DJ presenters were reintroduced. Mayo regularly hosted the programme from 1994 to 1995, and presented one edition of the show in 1996.
