2013-2018: The First HD Titles
After nearly seven years of service, the TOTP montage opening titles were consigned to history, as were the last remnants of the 2003 presentation. A lot had changed since 2003, including BBC1 and BBC2 upgrading to full-time 1080i HD broadcasts, which meant a new TOTP opening title sequence was required. A remix of the 1973 and 1998 ‘Whole Lotta Love’ theme tune became the 'new' TOTP theme tune, and the new titles were, well... fairly basic and boring. The Top of the Pops logo was given a chrome look, with a camera panning around different areas of the logo. When this first debuted in 2013, the backdrop behind the chrome TOTP logo was a pink hue with a 2D Christmas tree and baubles, but by 2014 there were slight variants for Christmas and New Year, with old TOTP logos from the past being shown as a backdrop as the cameras zoomed in, out and around the chrome TOTP logo.
