Reggie Yates is a British television presenter, actor, director, and writer, known for his work across multiple fields of entertainment. Born in Islington, London, Yates began his career as a child actor, appearing in popular British shows such as "Desmond’s" and "The Bill". He gained widespread recognition in the early 2000s as a presenter on children’s TV programs, such as "Smile" on CBBC.
As an adult, Yates transitioned into more prominent presenting roles, including hosting Top of the Pops and co-presenting "The Voice UK". Beyond mainstream entertainment, he gained acclaim for his hard-hitting documentary work with the "Reggie Yates: Extreme" series, where he explored challenging social and cultural issues worldwide.
In recent years, Yates has expanded his creative repertoire by stepping into filmmaking. His 2021 directorial debut, Pirates, was a coming-of-age comedy set in London, showcasing his passion for storytelling and commitment to representing diverse voices.
Reggie Yates presented Top of the Pops regularly from 2003 to 2006, and he co-presented the last weekly edition of the show on 30th July 2006. Yates continued to present Top of the Pops specials from 2006 up until 2016 alongside Fearne Cotton. Yates stepped down from presenting TOTP in 2017, making his last appearance on the Top of the Pops New Years Eve 2016 special.
