David Jacobs

David Jacobs was a British radio and television presenter who was born on May 19, 1926, in Streatham, London. He began his career as a radio announcer with the British Forces Network during World War II and later worked for several radio stations in the UK.

Jacobs is perhaps best known for his work as a presenter on BBC Radio 1, where he hosted the popular show "The David Jacobs Collection" from 1967 until 1978. He also presented "Round Midnight" on BBC Radio 2 from 1978 to 2007.

In addition to his radio work, Jacobs was a television presenter and appeared on several popular shows, including "Juke Box Jury," "The Sky at Night," and "Match of the Day." Jacobs was one of the four original presenters of Top of the Pops when it began in 1964, but remained a presenter of the programme for only its first two years. However, Jacobs did return for guest appearances on the 900th and 1000th edition of Top of the Pops.

Jacobs was awarded the OBE in 1981 for his services to broadcasting, and continued to work in the industry until his death on September 2nd 2013, at the age of 87.
